This conversion of an existing Victorian brick structure to provide flats, included extending the roof and providing balconies to provide outside space. Jordan + Bateman worked closely with planners and the client to deliver a conversion where the new interventions were distinctly modern, with the existing building refurbished to meet current building regulations and provide contemporary style accommodation.

This was a scheme to renovate run down warehouse units into high specification luxury accommodation. The strong industrial brickwork and existing ironwork was used as inspiration for the design and utilised the generous internal heights and window openings to create modern interiors while retaining elements of the buildings history.

Modern building methods and material were used to bring it in line with the latest building regulations including thermal insulation, to ensure comfort was not sacrificed for character. Jordan+Bateman Architects design ethos is that the best way to preserve historical buildings for our future is to make them viable for use in the present.

Our experience of working in international locations helped us ensure we delivered the project to the high standard required.

A feasibility and concept scheme to deliver a business network hub, where users could rent either permanent business address, singular units, or could be used by individuals who other wise would not have access to Office and multimedia facilities normally available to established offices. The idea was to that it could be implement in a country where internet access is not widely available to the general public and encourage local people to develop independant businesses.

This scheme involved developing a master plan for a Golf development in Andalucia, including housing prototypes. As well as providing feasibility studies and master planning schemes, the project also developed multiple housing types of different sizes, based on a modern interpretation of the local vernacular style.

The office of the British Consul General in Alexandria is housed in a large historic Neoclassical villa. The project was to reconfigure, upgrade and restore the office to meet modern needs. The key to the project was to infill a classical colonnaded external loggia to form a new commercial waiting room and reception. This was accomplished by installing a frameless glass entrance screen behind the curved colonnade. The existing waiting room allowed for the additional back office space and the decant area for the reconfiguration and restoration works.
